Your Day-to-Day Tasks will be:
The Assistant Supervisor oversees the daily activities of the assembly department, including scheduling, material requisition, and quality control. You will be responsible for ensuring that all assembled wood products meet structural and aesthetic standards while maintaining a safe, organized, and productive workspace.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Production Oversight: Coordinate and schedule daily assembly activities to meet production targets and deadlines. Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew. Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
• Quality Assurance: Inspect finished products to ensure they meet design specifications, tolerances, and quality standards for wood craftsmanship. Suggest changes that need to be made to ensure quality standards are upheld
• Team Leadership: Train, mentor, and motivate assembly workers on proper woodworking techniques, tool usage, and safety protocols. Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems. Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals. Identify all issues within team and provide continuous support to all members according to operating standards on everyday basis. Develop and maintain effective relations with all company employees at various levels of organization
• Technical Guidance: Develop blueprints, shop drawings, and technical schematics to guide the team through assembly phases.
• Operational Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve production bottlenecks, equipment malfunctions, or material defects to minimize downtime.
• Safety Management: Enforce strict adherence to safety regulations and company policies, ensuring the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Familiarize yourself with all equipment associated within Demis Products. Understand the safety hazards of the equipment and can explain these safety hazards and how to avoid them.
• Inventory & Supplies: Monitor stock levels of assembly components, fasteners, and adhesives, and requisition materials as needed.
• Process Improvement: Implement lean manufacturing techniques or other continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workflow and reduce waste.
• Facilitate department maintenance in conjunction with the company preventative maintenance plan.
• Help to ensure proper housekeeping is performed daily and that the factory floor is free and clear of all unnecessary debris.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. • Experience: Minimum of two years’ related experience and/or training. High school diploma or GED Equivalent. Forklift certification and experience is required.
• Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. General knowledge of computer programs including, but not limited to, MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, etc. Spanish speaking is preferred but not required.
• Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
